Interviewed by: Tony for MONARKH magazine on the 18/04/2009

1) How did you first get into design?

I was influenced by my dad who used to be a photographer. I chose to study at a high school in Sweden that focused on media-related studies. I came across a course in Graphic Design and got hooked straight away. It felt like I finally found an interest that I actually could become good at, unlike sport-related activities.

2) How you would best describe your work?

Idea-based design, often concentrating on typography. I am not aiming for a certain style. I try to be as different as I can for every new project. Even though it’s hard sometimes, I have a soft spot for shapes, black and pastel colours.

3) What inspires you the most?

Honesty. People who dare to be themselves and get a bit of their thoughts and values into their work. I think it’s very easy to spot when someone has designed trying to be someone they are not.

4) How do you normally start work on a project?

Often I start chewing on the project for a while, in order to get the right taste. Then I do my research, and brainstorm (it is such a 80’s word, but that’s what I do) with others, many minds are often stronger than one.

5) On average, how many hours a week do you spend on design?

That’s a scary question! Too many… I have way too many friends that does design as well, so it’s a constant topic.

6) What style music do you listen to when you work?

Depends on the mood of course, but usually I start the day with something easy to the ear (Bon Iver is a favourite at the moment) to finish of the day with some music that makes me happy before I leave work – something with rhythm and a heavy bass. Otherwise, Jazz is good for late night designing.

7) Who do you admire the most and why?

When it comes to design I’ll have to say my Dad, for photographing every second of my childhood – which lead to a lot of picture perfect memories, and, my high school teacher Tobias for inspiring a lost 15 year old girl to become a typography geek.

www.blackcabsessions.com, www.freetetris.org, www.epiclylaterd.com, www.nolegacy.com, www.ffffound.com, www.formfiftyfive.com, www.facebook.com (that’s a love - hater)

9) Any words of wisdom you would like to share with us?

Make art - not war.
